The Cult Leader Training Manual
Issue 3
The World Made Flesh
Issue 5
Off Black Magazine is a quarterly magazine based in London. They publish a voguish medley of beauty, fashion; arts and culture but with an interesting flourish, very much their own.
Johanna Bonnevier, creative director, asked me to write something (anything!) for them and rather than head down that seedy yet well-tramped alley of another 'Top 10 London Cults' article, I wrote something a little different. Yoking together a series of books and films I'd read on cults and cult leaders, I fashioned an article on how, despite the varying beliefs, the methods and traits of these organisations are almost identical.
So the content wrote the essay, a wry look at 'everything you wanted to know about starting a cult but were afraid to be burned at the stake for asking.'
It's available to peruse online but I (obviously) strongly advise the purchasing of the magazine. There's no better thing than the feel of matte tree when reading something. It's a great addition to any coffee table and it's about the same size as mine...
